Markus Howard Bids Farewell to Baskonia Fans
Markus Howard has officially wrapped up his time with the Kosner Baskonia, and he did it in style with a heartfelt goodbye to the fans. The American shooting guard, who is heading over to Zenit, hosted a special event this past Sunday, allowing fans to say their goodbyes. And believe me, the fans in Vitoria didn’t disappoint, showing up in droves to pay their respects.
The farewell gathering took place at a local café where Howard invited fans to come out. The turnout was impressive, with long lines stretching out the door to commemorate his time with the team.
Emotional Moments and Heartfelt Words
After the event, Howard also took a moment to speak with the media, sharing his thoughts and emotions. “I have mixed feelings. It’s a sad moment because my family and I love Vitoria, the fans, and the city. Spending four years here has been an honor and a privilege. Today is a day to remember the good times and be grateful for them,” he expressed.
He recalled the thrill of winning the Copa del Rey for the city and its supporters, saying, “They give so much to the club and our team. Any success the team achieves is largely thanks to the fans.”
It’s tough when you choose to stay somewhere you truly want to be, connecting with fans who really matter, and then it all comes to an end. It’s hard to put into words what that means. I believe the fans know what they mean to me.”
A Special Place in His Heart
Reflecting on his journey, Howard mentioned, “This is the only place in Europe I have been. The fact that my first experience was in a place that means so much to me makes it a part of who I am as a player and a person. Vitoria will always have a place in my heart.”
It’s evident that Howard leaves behind more than just memories; he’s taken a part of Vitoria with him as he embarks on his next chapter in basketball. Best of luck, Markus! You’ll be missed!
