Velimir Perasovic Returns as Kosner Baskonia's New Head Coach

Breaking News in the Basketball World

Hold onto your jerseys, folks! Kosner Baskonia has made a blockbuster move by parting ways with Paolo Galbiati and bringing in Velimir Perasovic as the new head coach. This change comes just a few weeks into the 2026/27 season, and let me tell you, it’s better than a last-second buzzer-beater!

Goodbye, Paolo!

Paolo Galbiati, who joined the squad in August 2025, has officially been shown the door after only one season and a sprinkle of games. The announcement dropped on the same day that the team waved goodbye to Markus Howard. It’s like a double whammy of basketball news! The Italian coach had led the team in 87 games, racking up 43 in EuroLeague and 40 in Liga Endesa, plus four in the Supercopa and Copa del Rey—where he even brought home a shiny trophy last February!

Welcome Back, Velimir!

Now, let’s give a big ol’ basketball welcome to Velimir Perasovic! This Croatian maestro isn’t just any coach; he’s got experience written all over him. He’s signed on for two seasons and plans to kick things off by taking the reins on his first game against Virtus Bologna this Friday. Talk about jumping into the deep end!

A Familiar Face

Perasovic is no stranger to the blue and red of Baskonia. With a whopping 253 games under his belt, he’s the second coach with the most games in Baskonia’s history! He’s not just back to fill a seat; he’s been a part of this team’s glory days—bringing home both a Copa del Rey and a Supercopa, not to mention leading them to their last Final Four in 2016. The man knows how to win!

Looking Ahead

As Baskonia sits pretty at the top of the Liga Endesa after three undefeated games, it seems they’re eager to keep that winning streak alive. With Perasovic’s passion for the game and his understanding of the club, the future looks bright! He’ll be arriving in Vitoria-Gasteiz tomorrow and is ready to bring his A-game.

The Buzz is Real!

So, basketball fans, keep your sneakers laced and your eyes peeled for the exciting match this Friday when Perasovic takes the court against Virtus Bologna. Welcome back, Velimir! Let’s make some magic happen on the hardwood!
