Velimir Perasovic Speaks Out After Baskonia’s Loss to Panathinaikos
After Kosner Baskonia’s tough 85-79 defeat to Panathinaikos, head coach Velimir Perasovic stepped up to the podium to share his thoughts in a post-game press conference. Let’s take a look at what he had to say.
Credit Where It’s Due
“First off, I want to congratulate Panathinaikos. Like all great teams, they know how to win games and they performed exceptionally well in the decisive moments. I believe we played a good match. We fought hard, tried to stay solid, and kept ourselves in the game, which was our goal given the injuries and our current situation. Unfortunately, we lacked the concentration and energy needed to come away with the victory. Facing Panathinaikos is always tough, especially in their arena. We committed too many turnovers, and that was one of our main issues,” Perasovic explained.
Looking Ahead
He continued, “As I’ve mentioned, we’re missing two key players. If we can bring someone in, I hope we can change the dynamic of the team. But there has been improvement. I believe we are becoming much more solid defensively and are able to stay competitive in games. Since my arrival, we’ve lost three matches, and I’ve only been here a week, but we’ve had chances to win all of them. We’re close to getting a victory, and I trust that with time, we will keep getting better.”
Team Effort
“The team has put in great effort. We played a serious game, where we had our opportunities. Unfortunately, we didn’t execute well on the last two defensive possessions and struggled to score. But I think the team played well overall. The injury to Tadas sets us back further, and we are still down players. At this rate, we’ve played three away games, and now a fourth one comes up before we face Madrid. It’s tough, as players are already quite exhausted. However, I believe they’ve given everything they had and fought hard, but it just wasn’t enough,” Perasovic added.
Injury Woes
On Tadas’ condition, he said, “It seems that Tadas is injured and felt a pinch that might indicate a muscle tear, but that’s just his initial assessment.”
