Yankuba Sima Bids Farewell to Valencia Basket and Heads to Germany
Goodbye Valencia, Hello Berlin!
Well folks, it looks like it’s official! The Spanish center, Yankuba Sima, is saying adios to Valencia Basket. That’s right, the team has waved him off as he packs his bags for a new adventure in Germany!
A New Chapter Begins
So, what’s the scoop? According to the latest buzz from COPE Valencia, Sima wasn’t really part of coach Xavi Albert’s game plan. And let’s be honest, it’s hard to stay in the lineup when you’re not exactly on the coach’s radar! But fear not, because Yanku has a shiny new deal with the ALBA Berlin that’ll keep him busy until June 2027.
What About the Contract?
Yankuba was under contract with Valencia for this season and another one after that. But now, he’ll be rocking the court in Berlin. The official paperwork states that he and Valencia have agreed to part ways, despite signing on to stick around until the end of the 2027-28 season. That’s a bit of a plot twist!
Looking Back at Valencia
During his time with the Valencia crew, Sima got to experience a fair share of thrills. He played in 32 games and dropped an average of 3.5 points and snagged 1.9 rebounds per game. This dude even showed up to the preseason and the semifinal of the Supercopa Endesa, contributing 4 points and 2 rebounds. Not too shabby!
A Grateful Farewell
The Valencia Basket team expressed their gratitude for Yankuba’s hard work and professionalism while he was with them. They wish him all the best for his future endeavors, both on and off the court. So here’s hoping Sima brings his A-game to Berlin!
ALBA Berlin’s New Addition
Now, let’s talk about ALBA Berlin! They’re all set to face some tough competition, being in the same group as Surne Bilbao in the BCL. And guess what? They’ve already kicked off with two wins in their first two games! Sima will also reunite with former Valencia player, the Icelandic point guard Martin Hermansson. Looks like they’ll be having a reunion over in Berlin!
